Utah for the 4th

We decided to escape the heat and head up to SLC for the week. We had a great time visiting with family and enjoying the nice weather. We flew up on Tuesday afternoon. We lucked out on the flight and got first class. It was great. While boarding the plane, Phil told Landen to sit in his seat and Landen said, "Oh good, I've always wanted to sit in these seats." That coming from a four year old. I'm pretty sure I never flew first class at four, but apparently Landen expects it.

Fun at the Park!
On Wednesday morning, we went to Murray Park with the boys and my parents met us there. The boys had a great time playing at the park and being with Nana and Grandpa Matt. Then we went to Five Guys Burgers for lunch. Phil travels for work to the east coast a lot, so he's been to Five Guys a few times and had to go again, since it's in Utah now. I have to say- it is very good!

Swimming!
That afternoon, we went to the Bountiful Recreation Center and took the kids swimming there. It is a great pool for little kids. Leah and her daughter Addy came along with my mom and Garrett. The kids loved it- especially Nathan. I knew Landen would like it, but Nathan wouldn't stop going down the slides. I forgot my camera this trip, but luckily Leah had hers, so here are some pictures from the pool.

Hiking in the Mountains!
Then on Thursday, we decided it'd be fun to take the boys up in the mountains (since it's so different from Arizona). So, we went to Mueller Park in Bountiful and went hiking. We kept saying to the boys, "These are called trees... This is the color green." It was just so beautiful- so different from the brown Arizona desert. (sorry no pics- forgot my camera).

3rd of July Fireworks!
Thursday evening, we went over to Phil's sister, Rachel's house in North Salt Lake for a BBQ and fireworks. She lives right above a golf course and they shot off fireworks from the golf course. It was great to just watch them from her driveway. The boys had a lot of fun playing with their cousins and it was great for us because they were entertained and we got a little break. And of course, since this was a "Gee" event- we ate very good! One of Rachel's neighbors had a little carnival in her backyard with games and prizes and snowcones, etc- so Landen got to go over to that. He won a pair of movie star sunglasses and had two snow cones, so it was a hit!

I did one of my more "blond" things though- I had a headache that afternoon, so I took what I thought were two Tylenols. Well, during the BBQ, I was so tired that I was literally falling asleep standing up and I couldn't figure out why I was so tired. Well, then I realized that I took two "Tylenol PM's" instead of just the regular Tylenol. So, I actually crashed for most of the night on Rachel's couch. I was really upset with myself, because I missed a good time. But I did wake up for the fireworks!

4th of July!
On Friday, the fourth, we went over to my sister, Leah's house in Stansbury Park for a BBQ and did some fireworks on the street. In Arizona, it's illegal to do fireworks, they don't even sell them, so the boys really like being able to do them in Utah. My brother, Austin, brought over Rock Band, so we played that all afternoon, took the boys for rides on the ATV, and ATE A LOT! We all had a great time.

Notice there is a picture of Phil and Landen on the ATV getting ready to go out on a ride. Then, the next one is Phil pushing Landen on the ATV. It ran out of gas and Phil ended up having to push Landen the whole way back. It was pretty funny!
