Leprechaun Hunt

For Landen's Preschool, they had a Leprechaun Hunt/ Party.  We had to make Leprechaun traps.  I had no idea what a Leprechaun trap is, but we figured it out.

Here's Landen's trap.  See the Lucky Charms are the bait and the Leprechaun tries to get them, pulls the bag and the pencil will fall and the lid shut and he'll get trapped in the box.  Pretty clever, huh!

The kids all set out their traps and then went back to the classroom to see if they could catch a Leprechaun.
Here they are all playing games waiting to catch a Leprechaun.

Then, they put on their special leprechaun hunting glasses and went back to check on their traps to see if they caught a Leprechaun.  Well, the leprechauns came, but no one caught one- they just made a big mess and left glitter, gold coins and shamrocks.  Those sneaky leprechauns.

Landen was very disappointed that he didn't catch one.  I think he honestly thought he was going to catch one.  He kept asking me if the leprechaun could be our pet and if we needed to get a cage to put him in.
Then, the kids went back to the classroom and the leprechauns had been there also and made a mess of the classroom, leaving glitter, shamrocks and gold coins everywhere- even in the bathroom. The kids loved the toilet- made all the disappointment of not catching a leprechaun magically go away.

Lastly, they all got cupcakes for their treat.  So, by now, all disappointment is gone!  Landen had a great time!

What fun and creative ideas. Looks like you found a great preschool. I've got to try some of those ideas in my house for the kids next year!
