Ringworm

So, Nathan gets this big bump/scrape on his forehead.  No big deal, right- he usually has a bruise or scrape on his forehead 90 percent of the time.  Well, it didn't get any better and it was this perfectly circular shaped, red bump that was suspiciously starting to look like Ringworm.  So, Phil took a picture of it and emailed it to his dad (he's a pediatrician) to see what he thought.  Well, sure enough, that's what it is.  RINGWORM!  I was so grossed out by this!  But, I have been assured that Ringworm is a fungal infection and does not mean he has a worm in his forehead.  But, still, it just sounds gross.  

Well, anyways, he told us to get this Miconazole cream to put on it.  So, I go to Walgreens to get it and ask the phamacist to show me where some is.  He looks at me and say, "Oh, that- it's right over here."  Well, he leads me clear across the store- out of the phamacy section and into the femanine product section right up to the Monastat 7 section.  Sure enough Miconazole cream is Monastat 7.  I really wish I had known that, it would have saved me having to ask the phamacist where it was.  I tried to tell him that it was for Nathan's forehead, but I'm pretty sure he didn't believe me.  Plus, I already had some of it at home- I use it on my kids when they have diaper rashes- Works like a charm.  I guess it's probably a good thing that I didn't send Phil to get the cream.  That would have been even more embarrassing!  

Tear Jerker

One of Phil’s closest friends, a mission companion who also happens to be from his home stake in Wyoming, recently lost his oldest son, six-year-old Joshua, in an accident. The eulogy he delivered is posted here, and it was so touching I wanted to share it.

Phil’s middle name is Joshua, and Chris mentions that his son, in part, was named after him.

Our "Blue" Valentine's Day

Last night for our Valentine's Day date, we took the boys to Ft. Worth to watch BYU play TCU. I got tickets through the Alumni Association for a pretty good price and we've heard that no one really goes to TCU basketball games so we thought it would be a good time to introducte the boys to the Cougars. We had a great time, and the boys actually loved it. Nathan was so excited, it was cute. He was clapping and cheering and loved the band. He kept asking for another song. It helped that it wasn't very crowded, or got very loud. They're not ready for a football game yet, or at least we're not ready to take them, but I think we'll definitly go watch the Cougars when they come in town next year.

It helped that the Cougars won, and it broke Phil's losing streak. Every away football and basketball game Phil has ever attended has ended up in a BYU loss. The list includes USC, Notre Dame, Arizona, Boston College, Texas A&M and TCU (football). He also held tickets for two other losses, but didn't make the game because of work; UCLA and Cal. He's hoping his streak is over so when BYU comes to Dallas to play Oklahoma on September 5 in the new Cowboys stadium, the Cougars will win.
